Mean currency exchange rate: 1 EUR = 3.8 PLN, 1 USD = 2.75 PLN.
All European and US currencies can be exchanged at Banks or Exchange bureaus called "KANTOR". Usually no commission is charged. Ask the rate before you change your money. There are many cash machines at the airport and in the downtown, most of them allow to get polish money from credit cards.
By taxi
Official taxi operators at the airport:
Sawa Taxi (+48 22 6444444), Merc Taxi, and MPT.
If you want a cheaper taxi operator, then you can order by mobile but note it will arrive on the first floor in front of the departure terminal. Taxi operators: Wawa (+48 22 9644), Tele Taxi (+48 22 9627), Radio Taxi (+48 22 9191), Korpo Taxi (+48 22 9624), Ele Taxi (+48 22 8111111).
Tariff 1.50 - 2.00 PLN (zł) per km; Sat/Sun or night 22-06: 50% more. On Sunday the cost of taxi to UKSW could be about 60 zł (16 EUR).
Attention: ignore taxi touts in the Arrival hall offering a trip to the city center, the cost could be much higher!
By bus/tram/metro (much cheaper but also more complicated)
Bus No 175 leaves every 10 min. from in front of the Arrival terminal. It takes about 25 min to the city center,
up to 40 min. only during the rush hour.
At the city center one can change to a tram or metro:
at the stop Dworzec Centralny (Centralna Railway Station)
change to tram No 17, or on the next stop Centrum change to tram No 15 direction north (Marymont/Bielany). From the stop Centrum you can also take a metro to Plac Wilsona followed by bus No 181. Take-off at the UKSW stop (after about 20 min.) and walk safely 5-7 min. through a nice natural park (Lasek Bielanski, see the map below).
Tickets are available at any news stand or kiosk
or from the bus driver (only 0.60 zł more expensive on the bus):
one-trip ticket (bilet jednorazowy) 2.40 zł
(one trip bus, tram or metro - one ticket!), or hence better buy
one-day ticket (bilet jednodniowy),
valid 24 hours after punching in the bus 7.20 zł,
and even better one-week ticket (bilet tygodniowy) for 24.00 zł.
